My next challenge is going to be on water!
I have put my name down to take part in the Great London Boat Race with Ilfracombe Pilot Gig Club.
The race is a 2 to 4 hour row down the River Thames. Covering 21 miles and going under the many bridges.
From Ilfracombe, there will 14 people taking 2 boats and camping at the finish line with the other competitors from around Great Britain. In total 200 boats and between 400 and 500 people, all with one aim.
“To party at the other end with a few beers and burgers.”
I took part in the race in 2018, that time I was classed as a “spare”. That enabled three of us to swop positions, rowing for up to an hour and then sitting at the back for about twenty minutes. I was able to take pictures from the back of the boat.

If you are in the City, please come and have a look, there are over 200 fixed seated boats rushing down the river.
