This week, I visit the RNIB’s head office and joined a visiting group of building enthusiasts to look round the amazing building. Sharing the learning and experiences.

Me, getting a morning coffee, ahead of the guest.

The next day, Friday, we traveled back to Ilfracombe.

Before the journey, Teal and I walked down Little Venice near Paddington . A chance to switch off and have a cuppa. Teal, loves to watch the birds.

Tea shop on the banks of the channel.

Sadly, the journey back was hit by a huge number of people attempting to squeeze into the Great Western Railway train from Exeter to Barnstaple.

The majority of the passengers visiting for holidays, loaded with huge suitcases, bikes and some with rucksack for hiking weekend.

When the London train stopped in Exeter, at Platform 4 the train to Barnstaple was on platform 3.

I loved the enthusiasm of the guard, stood on the edge of the train. Shouting!

“Hurry up the train is about to leave”.

Poor Teal, she was already feeling a tad tiered after the two days away and the two hour train journey and yet, she pushed and pulled me through the crowd to the train.

As we were the last people to squeeze onto the train, that was already full of people, suitcases, and then a I arrived, a Blind Bloke with a Guide Dog.

Teal and I stood in the gangway

The second picture is where, Teal and I stood whilst the busy train moved out of Exeter.

After 30 minutes and several train stops later we managed to get a seat, although Teal was in the gangway.

It was an experience, we felt normal and felt humbled, to not be treated with kid gloves. People were happy to leave us stood in a hot corridor, whilst they sat on seats.

Next time, I will join in with the other passengers.

Basically, do not give a dam for anyone, regardless of age, gender or disability…”treat everyone the same”.
